In the wake of multiple destructive events and alterations to a wind turbine blade's material, a narrative unfolds that diverges from the traditional notion of mortality. Within this context, Ileana Arnaoutou and Ismene King envision a series of objects and spatial scenarios that propose alternative systems of commemorative gestures. These imaginative spaces materialize as dystopian homes and apparatus, becoming temporarily familiar and intimate through the incorporation of gestures and objects. Flowers, talismans, personal effects, memorabilia, objects of faith, and rituals of daily routines merge to create a rich tapestry of significance. Visualizing the wind turbine fragments as deconstructed bouquets, each relic transformed into bouquets of memories, the artistic duo brings forth hybrid holding systems involving fastening and wrapping, creating an embrace that delicately reconstructs the remnants. Within these transitional spaces, a stiff embrace and cold intimacy coexist, creating a striking contrast with the warmth of memories. The exhibition unfolds as a continuation of the presentation within the framework of the One Work Show Series at Callirrhoë in Athens, which took place last October. It is a collaborative effort between the artistic duo and the exhibition spaces, Alkinois and Callirrhoë.
Στον απόηχο πολλαπλών καταστροφικών γεγονότων και τροποποιήσεων στο υλικό μίας λεπίδας μίας ανεμογεννήτριας, αναπτύσσεται μια αφήγηση που αποκλίνει από τις παραδοσιακές έννοιες της θνητότητας. Μέσα σε αυτό το πλαίσιο, η Ιλεάνα Αρναούτου και η Ισμήνη Κινγκ φαντάζονται μια σειρά από αντικείμενα και χωρικά σενάρια που προτείνουν εναλλακτικές χειρονομίες μνημόνευσης. Αυτοί οι φανταστικοί χώροι υλοποιούνται ως δυστοπικά σπίτια, γίνονται προσωρινά οικεία μέσα από την ενσωμάτωση χειρονομιών και αντικειμένων. Λουλούδια, φυλαχτά, προσωπικά αντικείμενα, αναμνηστικά, αντικείμενα πίστης και τελετουργικά της καθημερινότητας συγχωνεύονται για να δημιουργήσουν ένα σύνθετο ιστό. Οπτικοποιώντας τα κομμάτια της ανεμογεννήτριας ως ένα αποδομημένο μπουκέτο, όπου κάθε αντικείμενο μεταμορφώνεται σε μία ξεχωριστή ανθοδέσμη αναμνήσεων. Υβριδικά συστήματα υποστήριξης εμφανίζονται, δημιουργώντας μια αγκαλιά που ανακατασκευάζει με ευαίσθητο τρόπο τα απομεινάρια. Σε αυτούς τους μεταβατικούς χώρους, μια ακαμπτή αγκαλιά και μια ψυχρή οικειότητα συνυπάρχουν, δημιουργώντας μια αντίθεση σε σχέση με το άυλο συναίσθημα της μνήμης. Η έκθεση θα αναπτυχθεί ως συνέχεια της παρουσίασης στο πλαίσιο της σειράς εκθέσεων One Work Show Series στην Callirrhoë τον περασμένο Οκτώβριο. Θα είναι μια συνεργατική προσπάθεια μεταξύ του καλλιτεχνικού δίδυμου και των εκθεσιακών χώρων, Alkinois και Callirrhoë.
